DIY Cool Summer Fringe Top project is the Day 61 project. You can make this Fringe Top in just 15 minutes and make a shirt that is worth less than $3 to look like it is worth a lot, lot more! And you can do this in your home!
For the DIY Cool Summer Fringe Top project you will need 2 identical tops, in the same or different color, scissors, a sewing kit and pony beads.
The first thing you need to do is get one of the tank tops and cut it apart. Cut up both side seams and cut off the straps. This will create a back piece and a front piece. For this tutorial you will only need the front piece.
Here are the step by step pictures for this tutorial:
So, the instructions for this DIY Cool Summer Fringe Top project, according to the pictures above, are:
Cut a long bib shape from the front piece you made. Be careful, because the ending shape of your fringe top will depend on what this inital shape is. Using your scissors, cut your fringe vertically. Make sure that you don’t cut through the tops neckline.
You are now done with this step – your fringe bib is now complete. In most cases, you should gently pull each fringe to make it curl up on itself. When you tug on a standard T Shirt it curls up very nicely, but be careful not to pull too much!
The next step you need to take is to pin your bib to the front of your other tank top. Make sure you line the two necklines up exactly, with both right sizes facing up. Saw both parts together. You can hand sew them, or use your sewing machine, it is good if you use zig zag or stretch stitch.
At this point, you are mostly finished with your DIY Cool Summer Fringe Top project. You can choose if you want to add the beads or leave your new T Shirt without them.
Here is how the T Shirt looks without the beads:
If you choose to add the beads to each fringe, twist each fringe tip so it goes through the bead easier. Make sure you buy beads with large enough holes.
Now you are all the way done with this project! It should take you less than 15 minutes. You can add as many rows of beads as you like. If you are worried that they will come off, just tie a knot below each bead to secure it.
